10.6.2010 Services promoting employment and maintenance compensation »

From 1.1.2010 an employee can participate in services promoting employment and receive earnings-related unemployment allowance and maintenance compensation during the services. The services promoting employment must be agreed separately with the employment and economic development office. The earnings-related unemployment allowance can be increased by an increased earnings-related part or an earnings-related component of change security, if other requirements are met. In addition to the earnings-related unemployment allowance, tax-free maintenance compensation is paid.

The employment condition is shortened with daily allowance recipients from 43 calendar weeks to 34 weeks. An employee's employment condition is met when (s)he has been working 34 weeks within the last 28 months in a job in which the employment condition is met. The new employment condition rules are applied to those who have been working at least one employment condition week in the year 2010. Also the membership condition requirement is 34 calendar weeks, when previously it has been 10 months.
